Alumni reception for St David’s Day in Delhi
On 5
th March 2010 the Welsh Assembly Government hosted a reception for alumni who attended Welsh universities and are now based in Delhi. The reception was held in the garden of the British High Commissioner’s residence in Delhi to celebrate St David’s Day, the national day of Wales.
Guests enjoyed Glamorgan sausages, Welsh rarebits, and Welsh cakes during the evening and also tasted the Welsh whisky Penderyn. Nigel Casey, the Deputy High Commissioner welcomed the guests, followed by Professor David Halton, Vice Chancellor of Glamorgan University and leader of a senior academic delegation that was visiting Delhi for the week to strengthen links between Welsh universities and Indian education institutions.
Many of the alumni commented on Wales and how much they had enjoyed their time there. Please look at our youtube channel to see a selection of guests recounting their experiences of Wales and the universities that they studied at.
A quiz about Wales was available at the reception for guests to prove their knowledge of our country. The lucky winner was Nidhi Jain who previously attended Cardiff University. Congratulations Nidhi, your prize is on its way to you!
Photographs from the event will be made available soon. Please also take a look at our
