Wales

Swansea - St David's week

Swansea will be celebrating St David’s day for a whole week with a host of events starting on Saturday the 25 February and culminating in a traditional Welsh 'Twmpath' dance on the 2nd March; further details and a list of all the events being held in Swansea can be found at St David's Week

Cardiff

This year Cardiff will be hosting 4 days of celebrations from 29 February - 4 March.  Events will include a Welsh food market, the annual St David's Day parade, performances by the Welsh National Opera at Wales Millennium Centre and a concert by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales at St David's Hall.  See Cardiff Council's website for the full listing.

St Davids

The West Wales city of St Davids will be celebrating its namesake's national day with a range of events from 25 February - 3 March including a parade, singing, dancing and a cawl competition.  Find out more at www.stdavidsinfo.org.uk

1 March - St David's Day

Cardiff will once again host the annual St David's Day parade - a colourful event with local schools joining the parade wearing national costume, Welsh rugby shirts and other Welsh themed fancy dress.

Ffresh restaurant at Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay will host a St David's Day Dinner featuring entertainment, cockles, lamb and Penderyn whisky crème anglaise.

The BBC National Orchestra of Wales' St David's Day concert will take place at St David's Hall, Cardiff.

Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama will be celebrating with the the Cardiff premiere of The Wizard, The Goat And The Man Who Won The War, a play based on the extraordinary life of the ‘Welsh Wizard’ David Lloyd George.  A St David’s Day Concert, will also take place at 7.15pm, featuring songs and instrumental music to celebrate the masters of Welsh music

The National Botanic Garden of Wales will be offering free entry to all visitors. 

4 March

The St David’s Day run will be taking place at Bute park on Sunday 4 March, further information can be found at St David's Day Run.


London

Welsh food and drink will be showcased in London stores to celebrate St David's Day on 1 March. Visit John Lewis food hall in Oxford Street or Waitrose in Canary Wharf on 1st March to sample award winning food and drink including Welsh farmhouse cheeses, Welsh whisky and beer. At Partridges Food Store on Kings Road there will be Welsh treats on the cafe menu and tastings from 28 February - 4 March.

Welsh food producers will also feature at St David's True Taste Market at the Real Food market in London's South Bank Centre from 2 - 4 March. Watch live cookery demonstrations and enjoy Welsh themed St Davids' Day cocktails at the bar. Wales the True Taste website has more details.


Brussels

The First Minister will be in Brussels on Monday 27 February to host a St. David's Day lunchtime event at the Bibliotheque Solvay.  The menu will showcase the best of Welsh produce and entertainment will be provided by The Prince of Wales' Royal Harpist, Hannah Stone.

Wales will host WOMEX, the world's biggest world music expo in October 2013. To celebrate this event coming to Cardiff, the Welsh Government in partnership with Cerdd Cymru:Music Wales, WOMEX and the Flanders Music Centre would like to invite you to join them for an evening of music from Wales and Flanders on St David's Day, Thursday 1st March, the Welsh national day.

Three fabulous acts will be performing: Gwyneth Glyn and Megan Childs (Wales), The Naragonia Quartet (Flanders) and fernhill (Wales) while Hefin Jones will be DJing between the performers.

A seminar entitled Wales Welcomes WOMEX: the world music market and sustainability will also be held during the day.


China

Wales Week Chongqing 2012 - 27 February to 2 March

Wales Week will showcase Welsh industry, education, culture and arts and tourism and highlight the exchanges, co-operation and progress between Wales and Chongqing.  As part of Wales Week Chongqing, Coleg Morgannwg and Coleg Powys will be performing their production of Under Milk Wood.   


USA

Wales in Spring in the USA.  Celebrate St David’s Day - March 1 - and beyond with a host of Welsh events in the USA this spring.  Highlights include An Evening with Matthew Rhys, a sneak preview of movie Hunky Dory and St George's Society Rugby Legends Dinner with special guest Scott Gibbs.


France

St David's Welsh Festival, Disneyland Paris - 9 - 11 March

Disneyland Paris takes on a Welsh theme for this three day festival with Mickie and Minnie donning Welsh themed outfits and fireworks in the colours of our flag. There's also a Welsh food and craft market and a Welsh music festival.

Japan

18 March – Welsh Cultural Festival

The Japanese city of Osaka again plays host to the Welsh Cultural Festival. This year they will welcome Mab Jones, a performance poet from Cardiff and Mr Hidetoshi Ochiai, a professional photographer who will give a slide & talk show of his photos taken in Wales.

Other activities include a male voice choir mini concert of Welsh songs and a mini lesson in the Welsh National Anthem, welshcake tasting, a mini bazaar of Welsh souvenirs and free brochures.

Bangladesh

The British High Commission in Bangladesh, in conjunction with the Dhaka Cambrian Society, will be hosting a St David’s Day celebration with a Welsh themed evening with quiz and Welsh dinner at the British High Commission in Dhaka on 2 March.  For more information, please contact Justin.Davies@fco.gsi.gov.uk


Singapore

The St David's Society of Singapore will be hosting their Annual Feast of St David and arranging a Welsh food fayre in the British Club.  Dunvant Male Voice Choir will be performing at various venues during a week's visit including the British High Commissioner's residence.    


Hong Kong

The St David's Society of Hong Kong will be hosting it's annual ball at the Hong Kong Football Club on 25 February.  Musical entertainment will be provided by Hong Kong Welsh Male Voice Choir, a dance band and special guest Welsh Soprano Gwawr Edwards.
